Abstract

The visitors to ITMA ‘95 exhibition were not in the position to get a complete information on the developments in the field of knitting, at hosiery machine producers, who had presented their new machines ag FAST exhibition in Verona, were not present at ITMA. Among others, considerable improvement could be seen in knitting elements construction, a flat bed knitting machine without cams was presented, and the most notable improvement could be seen in the field of integral knitting, where complete clothing articles can be made on a knitting machine only. The importance of flexibility in knitting was given special attention, as the industry should be in a position to react more rapidly to fast changing fashion trends. The role of computers is more and more prominent, so it was no surprise that a number of small companies were present at the exhibition, offering software packages for knitting with a wide scope of possibilities in practical use.
