Abstract

A new contactless method to measure axial/pressure force on the knitting needle in the knitting process has been elaborated and described. On the shanks of needles, manufactured for this purpose, measuring tapes were placed to measure longitudinal needle deformation. A measuring signal coming from the needle was conducted into the amplifier, then into the HF emitter, then contactlessly into the HF receiver and finally into the A/D transducer and the computer. New knowledge of the needle load, for instance at clearing position and tuck-in position, i.e. the data of the needle load in a full cycle of stitch formation, is described in particular.
