Servicing and Cleaning of Spinnerets

Abstract

During and at the moment of stopping of the process of chemical spinning, the polymer residues stick in and on the spinnerets and other parts of machine that come in contact with molten polymer. These residues must be cleaned. In this study the methods and devices for the cleaning of spinnerets, that are available to the fibre producers, are described. As the most convenient method the cleaning by dissolving and in vacuum cleaning furnaces, while lately the furnaces with a fluided layer are parti cularly recommended.
