Abstract

The paper describes the characteristics of the development of smart textiles. Smart textiles and smart clothes are defined as a combination of textile materials and electronic technologies designed to increase a person's adaptation of the environment. Presented and development requirements that are placed on smart clothes, spinning and textile manufacture of which will produce such clothing, and describes the systems infrastructure and connectivity of electronic circuits within the garment. Iznesani both directions for further development and emphasized the need for conversion of the textile and apparel industry in the area of high technologies using the characteristics of production of such garments. Is described in detail the project smart clothes with widely available materials and components designed for the University of Zagreb Faculty of Textile Technology, which has all the basic elements of such a garment: the control buttons, the CPU, power supply and transmitting unit for communication with a PC. Shown is a software designed for this purpose. It was pointed out that the development and production of "smart clothing" would no longer deal only with clothing and textile engineers, but will have to work together with experts from various fields and areas, and in order to encourage the Croatian textile industry and turn to the field of high technology.
