Textile and Standard Computer Metrology

Abstract

The paper describes the international metrology development with emphasis on the use of SI units of measurement. Fundamental units of measurement are discussed, and the derivation procedure for derived units is explained. Special attention is paid to textile units of measurement, and the use and role of the textile metrology is emphasized. The computer program of zpUnitConverter, version 1.0, for the conversion with a special group of textile units of measurement has been designed. Its role should facilitate the operation if the units of measurement are converted, and the result is a lower time loss and the accuracy assurance of such an operation. In such a way the need for the use of computers also in this field has been proved. By introducing the textile group of units of measurement into the program, a remarkable contribution to the textile science, industry and textile specialists has been made.
