Abstract

The paper gives an overview of the recent achievements in the field of visualisation and virtualisation of garments, presented at the International fair IMB 2003. The computer software for both applications proved to be even more powerful today and represents a real enrichment of garment design and construction processes. The producers of such software are successfully pooling the labour and resources with most important CAD/ CAM systems‘ providers in order to create effective, attractive and serviceable solutions. Modem producers of textiles and garments already today can use a wide spectrum of conventional CAD/CAM systems together with virtual reality and internet services in order to improve their competitiveness with the comprehensive offer of e-services. The logic of development of new computer aided technologies is to enable a substantial increase of productivity and efficiency of processes at reduced costs and precious time.
