Abstract

Up to now there were only a few research works proposing the ways for the classification of some traditional fancy yarns. These investigations and data presented are incomplete and not exhaustive. Regardless of virtually new structures of fancy yarns, not even all traditional fancy yarns are included as well as the criteria of grouping aren't clear and homologous, it's exist the dimness and manifold meaning in the appellations of effect type and yarn groups, etc. This study deals with the problem of classification of all kinds of yarns with structural or/and optical effects. It was established that the type of the effect and the material for effect making are the main criteria that most properly characterise the group of fancy yarn ascription and the yarn itself. The qualities of such criteria are that the fancy yarn's character here has only one meaning, all the types of the assortment are included, the appearance of the fancy yarn is described perfectly, it disappears the necessity to link the effect type and technology of fancy yarn manufacture. The paper presents the classification schemes of fancy yarns with structural, colour and periodic, continuous effects as well. The presented method of the fancy yarns' classification enables the possibilities for further analysis, systematisation, and accumulation of such information that is very useful for the creation of new textile products.
