Abstract

Character and structure of fancy yarn effect determine the decorative effect of woven or knitted fabric. This study gives the novelties of the approach into creation and control of fancy yarn structural effects using a composite design. The fancy yarns are of complex structure: the effect intermediate product made of core component - cotton spun yarn and effect component - two linen yarns. The fancy yarns have been manufactured by one process method. Such structural indices of fancy yarns were analyzed: the number of effects like plain knot, arc, loop-knot, opened or closed loop with coil, combined effects in a unit of fancy yarn length. The mathematical model that expresses the relationship between the number of arc-plain knot effects in the unit of fancy yarn length and technological parameters of fancy yarn manufacture like the delivery speed of fancy yarn, the rotational speed of hollow spindle, and the supply speed of the effect component is informative, so further interpretation was done. The obtained mathematical model could be used for the control and for the design of new fancy yarns with desired structural effects.
