Abstract

The paper describes the problems of anthropometric measurements of body sizes and the marking system of clothes items. It often comes to confusion during buying new garments, because in most cases labels are not properly placed on garments. Most developed countries have harmonized their systems with the directives of the ISO system of marking clothing sizes, but most garment manufacturing companies have just begun to do something to that effect. This work reveals the problems and explains communication modes within the standard-manufacturer-consumer triangle as well as the problems of this communication. In conclusion proposals are presented which refer to possible solutions of this dominant theme in the area of clothing sizes.
