Abstract

Examinations carried out refer to the stitch damages in the sewing process of knitwear on various kinds of grey knit fabrics, bleached, as well as bleached and softened knit fabrics. A survey is provided of the basic properties and constitution of softening agents. The softening of knit fabrics was carried out with the softener Katilin 615 liquid in various concentrations. For the investigation of stitch damages a special sewing machine with the stitch type 602, needle fineness 75 and 85 and the corresponding thread fineness was used. The least damaged stitches on the softened knit fabric in the sewing process were achieved by the use of softening agent in concentration of 3 %.
