Abstract

The innovations in the finishing of cotton knit fabrics in the processes of boiling and bleaching with special emphasis on single-bath peroxide bleaching including preliminary demineralization and bleaching using peracetic acid are described. The significance of the treatment of knit fabric against damaging during sewing and the influence of finishing on dimensional stability are pointed out. The mostly used dyestuff groups as well as the procedures used for dyeing and printing knit fabrics are mentioned.
