Functional modifications of chitosan fibers
Abstract
Chitosan fibers have been used in recent years for various purposes such as antimicrobial textile products and wound dressings. Chitosan is used for its natural antimicrobial properties and ability to create a moist environment and accelerate wound healing. Since it has very reactive primary amino and hydroxyl groups in its structure, the functional properties of chitosan fibers can be modified by different treatments of the fiber structure. This paper provides a concise overview of some characteristic functional modifications of chitosan fibers that have been developed in recent years.Downloads
