Abstract

In the laboratory for quality technology at the College of Textile Technology in Buchs (NTB), a new sensor has been developed that non-contactly monitors the basis of threads on weaving machines. This way of monitoring the weaving process can avoid errors on the fabric. The disadvantages of the usual monitoring of basic threads, which is done with lamellas for example, can be avoided with this system. The sensor works on the principle of a very intelligent laser photocell.
