Abstract

The paper investigates the effect of small variations in woven fabric structure and finishing on fabric water vapour permeability and air permeability properties. Water vapour permeability and air permeability properties are investigated on 100 % wool and wool and PES blended fabrics. It was found that small changes in fabric structure affect water vapour permeability and air permeability properties, while the effects vary depending on the type and scale of variation. Waterproof and oilproof finishing have generally negative effect on water vapour permeability and air permeability properties.
