Abstract

The possibility of producing new types of thermoplastic composites, where both parts are components (reinforcing and matrix) in the form of a filament nas examined. Hybrid yarns have been produced from reinforcing-glass and polyester (PET), polyamide (PA) and polypropylene (PP) matrix fibres, which are further processed employing thermopressure processes. Preliminary investigations of hybride yarn production and basic mechanical properties obtained, open up new possibilities for introducing the new technology in thermoplastic composites and technical textiles production.
