Abstract

The efficiency of microwave fixation of prints of the reactive dye C.I. Reactive 24 applied to a cotton fabric using the digital print technology has been investigated. Cotton fabrics were impregnated with a solution of thickener, alkali, urea and oxidizing agent. After impregnation, drying, printing of the reactive dye by the digital printer, fixation, washing and saponification were carried out. The results of the fixation of prints with saturated steam and hot air were compared with the characteristics of the microwave-fixed prints. The effects of time and microwave power on a change in characteristics of impregnated textile substrates were tested. Based on the results obtained it may be concluded that the characteristics of microwave-fixed prints comparable with the characteristics of digital prints are of reactive dyes fixed by classic methods.
