Quality of washing with ozone in hausehold washing mashine

Abstract

Effectiveness of washing with ozone is compared with conventional process through evaluation of stain removal, spectral characteristics of white (cotton, cotton/ polyester, PES and PA) and colored (cotton, PES) fabrics and disinfection. Household washing machine, upgraded with ozone generator, standard detergent IEC A, cotton ballast, samples of standard soiled fabric, bleached and dyed fabrics and textile carriers of bacterial cultures of Enterococcus faecium ATCC 6057. Washing process (Cotton, Normal) included a main wash, three rinses and spin. Classical washing was conducted at 40 °C while ozone washing process performed in a bath of 20 to 40 °C. The implementation and evaluation of washing is carried out in accordance with standards and recommendations. The results showed that the effects of the ozone washing with a commercial ozone generator are comparative with classical washing effects. It has been shown that ozone washing without detergent IEC A at 40 °C lowers the number of microorganisms more than 5 logs. To enhance the effects of household washing with ozone is necessary to explore and develop design solutions that will allow the installation of ozone plant in household washing as well as new washing algorithms.
