Textiles for the Protection against Sun Radiation
Abstract
Frequent and long-standing exposure to sun radiation leads to a reduction of the immunological system of people (growth of allergy, herpes and the like), results in visual impairment (cataract), hair damage and considerable growth of malignant skin diseases. Owing to increasing requests for the protection of people against UV radiation, more marked demands for protective effect of textiles have been made lately, especially regarding children‘s clothing, work wear for people who work outdoors, sportswear and various shades, sunshades etc. The paper reviews the possibilities of making protective textiles, what can be accomplished by interventions on fibres, fabric constructions (woven and knitted goods), finishing processes and their combinations.Downloads
