ITMA 2003 - More Improvements than Innovations in the Field of Textile Knitting
Abstract
For ITMA‘03 it can be concluded that the trends announced in Paris at the millenium turning point continue. Subjects like increased productivity, quick change possibilities, adjustments to new materials and above all seamless knitting are the most topical. There were many interesting technological solutions for increased production flexibility and improved quality on display at ITMA. The fine gauge trend in circular and warp knitting is still in force. Feeding of highly stretchable and metalic yarns, knitting elements adapted to high friction and open-width fabric winding are the essential novelties of the ITMA exhibition, which would ordinarily not catch the eye, but nevertheless represent an important technological progress. The production is oriented towards nonclothing knitted fabrics: automotive, medical and technical textiles, among which the spacer fabrics are lately the most popular. Similar to flat bed knitting, there are two groups of CAD systems in circular and warp knitting: "in-house" CAD systems developed by machine builders, and “generic” systems designed for general use.Downloads
