Abstract

It is a widely accepted phrase that high productivity and the implementation of new technologies are obligatory if you wish to survive in modem textile industry. Of course, it is self-evident if large amounts of products are sold, whether it is in pieces, kilograms, meters or some other unit of measure. However, high productivity usually means selling cheap labour, while knowledge, tradition and experience can successfully compete with the benefits of modem technologies, yielding higher profit with lower quantities manufactured. An example of such an approach is presented here. The company of ZIVTEX d.o.o., Zabok, Croatia, produced unique hand-tufted carpets, offering wide range of patterns and constructions. The advantage of these carpets are innovative ideas, design and skill, which result in carpets of exquisite beauty and artistic value. The carpets are valuable, the demand for them is high and they represent high-quality unique products that definitely have their price, their customers and, last but not least, they present no competition to mass-produced cheap carpets.
