Industrial Production of Unique Models of Garment on the Basis of 3D-CAD Model of Human Body

Abstract

Investigations concerned with the development of processing circle of industrial production of made-to-measure clothing are presented. The circle begins with taking body measurements employing a two-dimensional photogrametric anthropometric system of measuring contours or a three-dimensional scanner for automatic registration of body measures. Operating procedures for both systems are presented, and their advantages and characteristics explained. After body measures have been taken, measures needed for automatic construction of the article of clothing are defined, adapting the three-dimensional model of human body, as well as technological parameters needed for industrial production of the made-to-measure article. A concept of production is also presented, together with the informational and technical unification of all production phases. A new and successful model of fabric drape is proposed, based on physical laws, with the possibility of determining points of contact between the garment and the body of the wearer, and computerised animation of the human figure. Technique of contact developed yields good results even when complex distortions of fabric are concerned. The application of the model is described, as well as the method of defining contact points, as a means of aiding computerised presentation of the garment model in the system of global garment selling.
