The Impact of the Level of Technical Equipment on a Sewing Machine upon its Utilisation Ratio

Abstract

Investigations are presented on the impact of sewing machine technical equipment on sewing process parameters, such as its utilisation ratio and specific time needed to sew a meter of seam. A workplace is designed for the purpose, with a modem sewing machine equipped with a processing microcomputer, enabling programming a number of levels of technical equipment. Process parameters are investigated at four such levels. Results indicate that basic duration of a sewing operation is reduced with a higher level of technical equipment implemented, together with the specific time needed to sew a meter of seam, while utilisation ration of the machine is enhanced, primarily due to more rational movements in performing auxiliary hand sub-operations, but also due to a more optimal method of work utilised, and more favourable structure of the operation, making the sewing operation at higher stitching speeds possible.
