New Method of the Batch Bleaching of Cotton Knitted Fabrics
Abstract
The influence of the alkali pretreatment of cotton knitted fabrics before peroxide bleaching was investigated. It was found out that optimal results could be obtained by the NaOH-alkali treatment at 60 °C using a good emulsifier, a sequestrator and a degreasing agent. The obtained whiteness the of a medium quality knitted fabric is higher than with previous demineralization. Through the alkali treatment at higher temperatures greater damages of cotton are caused than through the alkali treatment at 60 °C, whereas a lower whiteness is achieved at lower treatment temperatures.Downloads
