Computer Aided Design of Textile
Abstract
The advantages of the computer aided graphic technology of textile design in comparison with the existing handwork, especially with regard to the precision and speed of the creation of patterns as well as with regard to their further treatment as weaving design charts or printing screens are elaborated. Examples and explanations of the work with scanner, bitmap and graphic object programs are given, and their advantages and disadvantages are emphasized. The difficulties of drawing and correcting patterns as well as the most important information of the special UNIDRAW-program used to lessen these difficulties are explained. The special simulation program WEAVE ART by means of which one and the same pattern can be woven in about 10 various weave techniques is explained in order to achieve the best possible idea of the influence of weave effects and their colours on the aesthetic appearance of the fabric to be woven in jacquard or shaft weaving technology.Downloads
