Creaseproof Finish of Cellulose Fabrics - Formaldehyde Problem
Abstract
Consideration is give here to the problem of formaldehyde in the processes of creaseproof finish of cellulose fabrics. Many of the earlier applied bond are out of use today because of the high content of free formaldehyde. Today only those products are in use by which a quality finish with low content of free formaldehyde (maximum up to 500 ppm) can be achieved. These quantities do not cause skin allergies and can be used for the finish of textile fabrics for the production of shirts and outerwear. More and more important are becoming also creaseproof products without formaldehyde content, first of all those on the basis of dimethylglyoxal urea (DMGU). Perspectives exist also for polycarbonic acids (PCA). These products are recommended first of all for the underwear.Downloads
