Abstract

The influence exerted by heavy metal ions on the brightening effects is described. The investigations were carried out with optical brightening agents from the assortment of Chromos-Kutrilin, Zagreb on cotton and polyester fabrics. The effect exerted by heavy metal ions such as: Fe3+, A13+, Cu2+ and Mn2+ in hard and soft water with and without the addition of sequestering agents was investigated. The results of optical brightening were determined spectralphotometrically.
