Abstract

Since 2011, the organisation of the industrial production process has been influenced by the concept of "Industry 4.0" and later the "circular economy". These market and environmental requirements do not apply equally to everyone, nor can they be implemented within certain deadlines. This is particularly difficult for the garment sector, on the one hand because of the problem of automation in the manipulation of textile material, and on the other hand because of the requirement for a change in the basic material that is easily recycled and, in particular, the change in behaviour in relation to garments. The paper describes specific problems faced by the garment industry in implementing both concepts.
