Abstract

The tufted carpet stop mark is an important factor affecting caipet out quality. Tufted carpet stop mark is closely related to the change of yarn tension caused by tufting machine improper stopped and the yarn creep properties. The purpose of this paper is to develop a reasonable approach to eliminate tufted carpet stop mark. Focusing on a typical tufting machine, the tufting equipment system and the basic working principle of tufted carpet are briefly described. The yarn path flexing model in a typical tufting process which integrates yarn feeding parts, yarn guiders and tufting needle is constructed. The yarn tension change is analyzed along with the change of yarn path. The Polypropylene yarn‘s four-component model is used for analyzing the relationship of tension and yarn creep properties. The creep property of polypropylene yarn under a certain tension is verified by experiments. According to yarn tension change in different running positions of tufting needle, a reasonable method of eliminating stop mark which stopped and restarted machine in the highest position is put forward. Finally, the experimental results prove that the method is effective and feasible.
