Organizational socialization of textile and clothes designer in manufacturing company

Abstract

The aim of the research was to make an insight of organizational socialization issues of textile and clothes designer starting to work in a textile manufacturing company, as well as to identify the ways to overcome the encountered difficulties. To meet established objectives, the investigation was performed in 19 production companies belonging to textile sector in Serbia having included interviews and filling up formatted questionaries. The investigation was carried out in two distinct groups: textile and clothes designer and manager (being designer‘s superior). The research was focused onto: preferred features of designer‘s mentor, acquired level of understanding between the designer and relevant functions within the company, internal relations in designer team, sufficiency of designer‘s acquired knowledge and skills to efficiently begin to perform their job. Conclusion provides guidelines on how to select an adequate designer‘s mentor and also hghlights priorities in regard to additional training the designer is to undergo in order to attain the expected work capacity.
