Investigation of the dependence of carpets yarn dynamic properties of wool and blended wool/polyamide 6 on ply-twist factor

133x3 tex 80/20 wool/polyamide 6 and 133x3 tex wool carpet pile yarns are investigated under tensile load and cyclic load, between two force limits. The repeated stressing between the two force levels is supposed to simulate dynamic loads on carpet, such that occurs in walking. Tensile properties, dynamic modulus and dynamic strain are established for various ply-twist factors. The amplitude of loading is changed according to the tenacity established during tensile tests. The results obtained show that dynamic modulus and dynamic strain increase with increased ply-twist factor. Dynamic strain of the wool yarn rises with increased ply-twist factor at the initial cycles. However, in the last cycles the dynamic strain of the blended yarn equals the dynamic strain of the wool pile yarns. It can also be seen that the dynamic modulus of the blended yarns is higher than the dynamic modulus of the wool carpet pile yarns, as well as that the dynamic modulus and dynamic strain rise with the increasing number of cycles.Downloads
