Abstract

This paper explores the basic conditions of the appropriate formation of tucked-in selvedges of fabric. Types of weaves, yarn density and count of the selvedges compared to the ground fabric were optimized. According to the results obtained it may be ascertained that the optimization of the selvedges is a very complex problem depending on a variety of yarn and fabric parameters and weaving conditions. Loose or tightened selvedges represent a problem in the weaving process. The result is that the subsequent processing stages of the fabric are impossible to carry out, and the fabric quality is impaired.
