Resumption of the Production of Spinnable Flax Fibres

Abstract

The production of spinnable flax fibres in Croatia for the period from the First World War up today is described. Factors affecting the quality of yields such as method and term of planting, conditions of growing and harvesting are analyzed. A short survey of morphological and textile-technological flax properties is given. The investigation results carried out in the framework of the project of renewing the traditional production of spinnable flax fibres encompassing 5 flax types grown in two sites are presented.
