Computer-based Determination of Colour Deviation and of Tolerance in Textiles
Abstract
In the processes of textile technology the dyeing of similar textile substrates using dyes of the same kind may result in distinctive and unacceptable colour deviations. That concerns various attributes such as different absorption properties of different textile substrates, to changes in the conditions of the dyeing process and the quality of agents used. For that reason it was essential serving the needs of industrial production processes to determine tolerance limits and limits of acceptability or non-acceptability of colour deviations respectively. In practice of the textile industry tolerance limits of acceptability are determined on the basis of the total colour deviation AE* and difference in individual colour parameters Aa*, Ab*, AL*, AC*, AH*. The ISO system is based on the CMC (l:c) colorimetric system on which the newly developed CIE94 and CIEDE2000 systems are based. In future it may be expected a further development of new mathematical models which, in the ever-demanding market race, have to meet ever increasing demands on accuracy and reproducibility. By analyzing the mathematical systems for quantifying the colour deviation significant modifications and transformations of parameters of brightness and shade are noticed.Downloads
