Abstract

The paper describes a laboratory testing instrument based on a circular knitting machine of small diameter with a gauge of 14E and a cylinder diameter of 100 mm (4"). On the basis of a possible simulation of any knitting conditions all major parameters used in the knitting process, first of all dynamic yarn loads, are measured. On the basis of the obtained results the problems caused by yarn can be rapidly explained. Examples of employing two cotton yarns with a count of 20 tex, knitted by using a number of sinking depths and yarn tensions in the entry of the knitting system, are given.
