Some Technology Innovations and Properties of Nonwoven Technical Textiles

Authors

Abstract

Some key technology innovations are presented in the field of fibre preparations in web making, as well in the manufacture on roller cards. Basic properties of nonwoven technical textiles manufactured by chemical spinning from spunbonded microfilaments are described. Fibre preparation technologies are based on careful fibre opening and continuous mixing, from automatic bale opening to feeding to the cards. Roller cards have become more flexible regarding web unit mass and fibre orientation in it. Development of new products for a wide range of applications, as well as process innovations, offer new prospective and optimism to nonwoven textile manufacturers.
