Financial Effects of Textile and Garment Industry in Croatia in 1999
Abstract
Indicators, such as overall income, number of employees, profit, losses and export, are used in an analysis of financial success of textile and garment industry in 1999. Companies are ranked within the NKD 17 and 18, and business data compared to the data in Croatian economy in general. Overall, this branch of industry was in a loss (calculating profit minus all the losses), the same as in 1998. Overall income of the branch rose only 0.2 % in 1999, some 2300 workplaces were lost, and the number of employees in the production of textiles constituted 15.88 % of all the employees in processing industry, and 3.95 % of all the people employed in Croatia. Encouraging is the fact that among the 400 biggest companies in Croatia (by overall income) are 9 textile and garment manufacturing firms, while 20 companies from the branch are among the 100 biggest exporters from Croatia.Downloads
