Abstract

This paper contains a structural analysis of the financial operations of the textile and clothing industry in 1998. Based on characteristics such as total revenue, number of employees, profit and export, a ranking list of companies within NKD 17 and 18 was compiled, and these numerical indicators were compared with the state of the overall economy of the Republic of Croatia. Unfortunately, this economy reported a significant loss for the financial year 1998, and for the first time the clothing industry had a negative business. Among the 400 largest Croatian companies in terms of total revenue, there are 10 factories in the textile and clothing industry, while it is significant that there are as many as 13 companies in this industry among the 50 largest exporters. In order to stop the stated downward trend in total income and the number of employees, urgent joint action of the authorities in the Government of the Republic of Croatia and the management of factories with a roadmap for the restructuring process of this economy is needed.
