Abstract

Investigations of profitability threshold for the application of various control techniques (with pneumatic elements, relays and PLC), in conventional practical cases, indicate that even in the case of a lower number of functions (=7) pneumatic control should be substituted with relays, and furthermore, in the case of =12 functions PLC should be used, as the prices for it are constantly being reduced. Due to this reduction of prices, it can be expected that for the average expected number of functions (=13), as is the case in most practical applications, it would be profitable to substitute relay control with PLC. Results of this investigation are applicable not only for machines and devices in garment manufacture, but for all the devices using pneumatic executing elements in any branch of industry as well.
