Influence of Fabric Construction on Sound Absorption
Abstract
This paper investigates the impact of fabric construction on its sound absorption properties. It is found out how the following affects sound absorption: density of cloth (in weft direction), weave (satin, plain, twill), surface mass of cloth and number of cloth layers in a layer of specific thickness in order to find out a number of cloth layers providing an optimal reduction of noise. All the measurements were performed in a frequency noise range from 160 Hz to 5000 Hz. The results obtained show that all the previously mentioned construction cloth elements exert a particular influence on sound absorption.Downloads
