Abstract

An economic prosperity of the Croatian textile economy is possible and all the textile workers expect a change for better in near future. It is not possible to realize it without a fundamental reconstruction of economy including structure as well as technological and financial characteristics and based on market conditions controlled by measures of the government intervention inherent to the experiences of developed industrial countries. The present textile economy is not successful. It has a technological setback because investments were drastically reduced, the number of workers decreases, the production structure is being disintegrated (the primary textile industry is considerably reduced), and the regional - county textile disparity is being enhances. This export oriented industry branch possesses an outstanding incongruity relating to production costs, product prices, services and domestic currency so that the achieved international exchange (principally “paid work business”) is not any longer functionally connected with the process of textile economy development.
