Investigations of New, Modified Mercerizing Processes of Knit Goods
Abstract
Samples of cotton and PES/cotton knit goods were mercerized by dry mercerizing process (SM process) and by Sandoflex process. The influence exerted by various conditions on the effects of mercerization was investigated. At the hand of SM process very good effects were obtained. The results obtained were compared with those obtained by conventional mercerization. The effects by Sandoflex process are less good, but due to its simplicity this process is more suitable for the practice. Higher degrees of whiteness can be obtained by longer storage of samples impregnated in caustic potash lye.Downloads
