Abstract

The production of textiles on Croatian land is dated far in prehistory, wich is witnessed by archeological findings and numerous traces of the heritage recognized on the later produced textiles. The handiwork production of textiles in these regions involves overall characteristics of the culture of the Southern Slavs, partly reflecting of the in people who had inhabited these regions, but also the characteristics specific for particular geographic areas where life was organized in accordance to the natural and geographical features and social relationships in the communities. These were the rural communities where one could satisf y his needs for textile products.
