Abstract

The business and market position of the Croatian textile and clothing industry is analysed. It was found that these industrial branches are technical-technologically, scientifically and from the marketing point of view closely connected with the European and world market. In order that they could adapt themselves to new movements, it is necessary to create a modern system of standardization. To achieve this goal, the role of scientific and expert work, the development of the system of compulsory and continuing education are discussed. The significance of quality control institutions, management, of the employees in enterprises as well as the role of the scientific and expert press are emphasized.
