Pretreatment of Polyester Fibres in Organic Solvents to Improve Dyeability
Abstract
Polyester filament yarns were treated in organic solutions and in plasticizer solutions in organic solvents. The solubility parameters were similar to those of the aromatic and aliphatic part of polyethyleneterephtalate. The yarn strain being accumulated during the melt spinning is follwed by shrinkage and secondary crystallization. The treatment of polyester filament yarns in organic solvents makes the relaxation of yarn strain possible, what leads to the formation of a microporous structure and so to a greater inner porosity. Also, the increased glass transition temperature improves the diffusibility at the boiling point of the wather.Downloads
