A statistical method for obtaining auxiliary measurements from the base measurements of trousers and shirts

Abstract

Clothing, which has a significant place in all aspects of life, still sustains its importance in the period of primary school. Clothes, which are designed for individuals in adolescence epoch, so that they can express themselves, feel comfortable, look aesthetic, be healthy, should have the characteristics such as being functional, appropriateness to the body, providing thermal protection. The aim of the this research is to calculate the subsidiary measures by making use of basic measures, that are taken from male students studying in junior high school in Izmir. To the research extent, sizes were taken from 300 students that had been chosen haphazardly. The measures which are established, are used for size groups, which presented the persons‘ body height. At last, measures table for standardization was obtained and shirt with trousers patterns were designed.
