Abstract

The results obtained during the investigation of various properties of naturally coloured cotton fibres (physical, chemical, structural, morphologic and mechanical) and their comparison with the results of the tests carried out on referential white cotton are partly presented in this paper. The investigation of elastic properties of naturally coloured fibres revealed that the behaviour of green fibres was different at 2 % extension. For this reason a suitable hypothesis was made. Mechanical properties of yarns made of naturally coloured cottons and white cotton were investigated, as well as the properties of knitwear made of these yarns.
