Preventive conservation of vest from the collection of the Museum in Samobor

Abstract

This paper presents a systematic approach to the conservation and restoration works on the textile artifact from the collection of Samobor Museum. Based on a detailed image of the current state, processes and methods of preventive conservation of the vest are defined. Conducted research and conservation works have resulted in defining the origin and dating of the vest, as well as in refreshing the green color of original fabric and removing dirt and insects as potential pollutants and causes of degradation of this valuable museum artifact. In accordance with the settings of modem conservation and restoration works, photographic documentation of the entire project and the prescribed procedure of storage in the museum have been made.
