The growth of technology and wide usage of electronical devices in daily life threaten the human health. In order to solve this problem, the researches are continued intensely to develop textile surfaces having electromagnetic shielding properties. In this study, different knitted fabrics were produced on flat bed hand knitting machine by using stainless steel and copper wires. Then the electromagnetic shielding effectiveness of these fabrics was examined. It was concluded that the plain knitted fabrics having double ply wires had higher electromagnetic shielding effectiveness values. There were no significant differences between the rib knitted fabrics and plain knitted fabrics produced by using single ply wire in horizontal measurements. Although in rib knitted fabrics, of which unit area contains much more wire than plain knitted fabrics, there were no significant differences in shielding.Downloads
