Abstract

Fashion, style or combination of garments define humans as unique beings, and they express their individuality, lifestyles and attitudes. Stylists have the knowledge about the creation of desirable garment combinations. If the selection is to be computer-aided, the stylist‘s knowledge should be formalized mathematically and a computer system with a user interface appropriate to the end user should be developed. Such a system is by nature complex, and science of complexity is used for formalization. As a prerequisite for evaluation in the real environment, the relevant prototype system was generated by an iterative design process. The system is an innovation in conceptual, commercial and technological terms, and in this form it has not yet been commercially implemented. It is expected that the software solution developed will encourage collaboration and improve existing communication between users and producers for their mutual benefit.
