The removal of base dyes from wastewater model by adsorption at waste ashes

The contents of this paper are presented through the experiment of checking the possibility of removing, i.e. purification, of coloured wastewater resulting from dyeing textiles with basic dyes, using waste-adsorbent ash, obtained from coal combustion in the heating power plant in Leskovac, Serbia. The adsorption behaviour of the textile base dye Astrazon Green M after dyeing and treatment with ash, the influence of the amount of the ash, the initial concentration of the dye, pH and time spent at adsorption interference are analysed. The adsorption is accompanied by a very well known isotherm Langmuir model, describing adsorption model for the experimental conditions over the characteristic constants: adsorption capacity and adsorption energy. The kinetics of adsorption are described employing equations of first and second order, showing that the adsorption rate of the base dye on the ashes follows the second-order model for the concentration range of the dyes used in this experiment.Downloads
